When presented with challenging situations we are allowed a moment during which we perceive either an obstacle or an opportunity.  This figure is caught in the midst of this decision.  He can turn back, his journey incomplete... or he can move ahead (most likely on foot) and complete his journey. This concept can be applied beyond an individual scale to address the much larger problems facing society and the human race.
