What is our impact on the environment and the plants and animals within it? To me this piece demonstrates that we are at a turning point, a point of balance, the edge of the knife. In this character I sense disbelief and outrage but a willingness to forgive. The natural world, via this character, implores us to change our ways. The use of bone represents tragedy and pessimism: tragedy for the irreparable damage we have already done and pessimism for our long‑term prognosis. The use of four arms gives a sense of urgency to this character's message. |
