One of the things that makes birds so different from humans is that their legs bend backwards.  This fact coupled with my upbringing as a Roman Catholic made me think that it would be impossible for a bird to properly genuflect.  In fact, I imagine that they would have great difficulty to kneel properly in a church pew.
